SPBCo OPTIMIZES PACKAGING AND PROCESSES TO REDUCE UNIT COSTS BY 6%
Challenge:
A leading private label
manufacturer of broad based dry grocery products, requested sustainable
cost savings solutions through a comprehensive RFI/RFP process.
SPBCo Solution(s):
SPBCo’s Structural Design
team, employing an ISO Contract Review pre-bid value-engineering SOP,
examined all existing customer size & styles for optimal material
and press layout specifications. It was determined that the customer
could reduce caliper from .018 CRB to .016 CRB in a low risk manner, and
that very minor changes to the ESE flaps would result in an improved
press layout. The cumulative results – a 6% unit cost savings. Upon
contract award, SPBCo developed a confirming trial protocol assisting
the customer with increased savings for this growing product line.
