IMPROVE CUSTOMER FILLING LINE THROUGHPUT BY 50%
Challenge:
The national leader in medical
bedside facial tissues was searching for higher throughput on their
fully integrated converting line. Chronic seasonal opening force issues
associated with this low caliper, narrow width, CRB folding carton were
the focus of these efforts.
SPBCo Solution(s):
Upon contract award, SPBCo’s
carton consistency, primarily coming from state-of-the-art tooling and
equipment, yielded a moderate level of immediate product throughput
improvement. Internal SBPCo brainstorming amongst experienced
folder/gluer operators developed a proprietary method to enhance carton
“fluff” thereby lowering the opening force required. Significant and
consistent product throughput increases resulted, which allowed for
upstream converting line de-bottlenecking, previously not pursued due to
the folding carton limitations. Two years later the customer is
enjoying a 50% improvement in the filling line throughput of this
critical converting asset.
